Luxury Yacht Charter

With a mast that tall and one that changes color a` la TVR, alarm bells should be sounding, "This is no ordinary yacht". What’s more you'd be right!

Luxury Yacht Charters

The concept behind Bare Necessities was that she would be able to offer both, relaxing family holidays and corporate entrainment at the highest level. She enjoys and enviable reputation at both.

Built by Southampton Yacht Services and launched in 2004 Bare Necessities was the most computer advanced yacht built in the UK and now nearly four years on the same still applies!

From the moment you step aboard, you realize this yacht is different from others.  She is the first Oyster 82’ and incorporates significant variations from the original build concept. A meter high safety rail, seven watertight subdivisions, high-fog fire system, etc. Many improvements are a result of the owner’s own experience and listening to the advice form his permanent crew, the inbuild surveyor and the MCA (Maritime and Coastguard Agency) surveyors, who all had an input,  allowing the yacht to operate as a ‘Passenger Vessel’ (more than 12 guests).

BARE NECESITIES is a taste of what’s to come in terms of delivery of information about navigation, status of the yacht, position systems, monitoring and so forth, together with information technology, entertainment and communications.  Her owner whose background is in IT has equipped the yacht with a total technology package displayed on LCD screens throughout the vessel.

From a technology perspective, she has 17 computers and 20 LCD displays. Each display can be tuned to a range of applications including the yacht’s navigation and chart computer’s, it’s radar systems or entertainment applications including engine room and masthead cameras, rig strain monitoring, sonar, right down to music, DVD’s and digital television.

Bare Necessities is a unique amongst modern sailing yachts available for charter today. Firstly, she tends to spend her summers in and around the Solent where it is rare for a yacht of this size to be seen. She also has developed a very successful charter business in the area of Corporate Entertaining while still being used for the occasional luxury family holiday.

Her size and uncluttered deck is perfect for entertaining.  The large cockpit can comfortably seat guests for eating ‘al fresco’ as well as two large seating areas inside the main saloon.

For corporate work guests can get involved in sailing, take the wheel, or just relax and enjoy the experience. Sailors will love the carbon/vectran sails.  A yacht of this size generates a great deal of force, the Genoa winches pull 5.7 tons and there is an immense sense of power when the loads come on as she starts sailing well.
Team building, business meetings, contract signing, companies bought and sold, we’ve seen it all. We have been used by organizations such as Savills, Accenture and Skandia Life to entertain their customers.

The yacht is professionally maintained and operated by her Captain and three crew, all MCA licensed. She is certified to carry 18 guests and we believe the only sailing charter yacht to have this ticket in the South of England.

For overnight charter, she can comfortably accommodate up to 8 guests in four cabins. She has cruised all around the South of England, Southern Ireland, the Scilly Isles, Channel Islands and across to the North coast of France and even up into the Baltic. From December 2007, she is planning to be in the Canaries and is available for private holidays in the sunshine returning early in 2008 for another full UK season.
