Team Building

Whilst many of our events are superb fun, and can successfully engender team bonding with guests leaving on a real high having shared goals, a common language, experiences, and witnessed colleagues in often humorous situations, they are not sufficient on their own to build a true sense of “team”.

If ‘fun’ is the goal in itself, these are fine.  If it is some form of change or true development you wish to facilitate within your office culture, we can also offer carefully designed team building courses to create and support sustained behaviour change.

A number of our programmes are ideal to work alongside this process, and we are happy to offer full facilitation in addition to simple briefs/debriefs. These can be run by the activity instructor - all of whom have many years’ experience at focusing on key learning points within the activities – or by one of our occupational psychologists for an even more in-depth approach.

The “Labyrinth”

Team BuildingOur most popular and versatile challenge which takes its inspiration from TVs “Crystal Maze” or “Krypton Factor”, but is for teams rather than individuals… The ‘Labyrinth’ is our ‘collective’ name for a series of 30-minute physical and intellectual challenges, aimed at team building with an emphasis on fun and problem solving rather than physical exertion, although each does require a high degree of co-operation between team members. Even better, we can directly relate these to the types of skills used in the office environment, providing genuine “take home” value too.

Highland Games

Team BuildingThe Highland Games takes elements of our other sporting challenges, adds others, and the whole event is themed to give it a distinctly Scottish flavour. Guests will be split into “clans” (The McArdos, MacRamès, McSpreaders, Clan Dudnos etc.) each of which will have their own tartan for their “chief” to wear, as well as creating a banner to plant on the field of “combat”. Each clan will be “piped” onto the field, their chief aiming to lead his team to glorious victory…

“Wacky Races” – Pedal Car Spectacular!

Team BuildingRemember Dastardly, Muttley and Penelope Pitstop? Well here’s your chance to re-enact the plot as you attempt – in one of six teams – to race each other “around the globe” to become the “World’s Wackiest Racer”.  This challenge involves the teams assembling and racing a pedal powered full sized kart.  In addition, these karts need to look as much like the original vehicles as possible (e.g. the Boulder Mobile, Creepy Coupe, Compact Pussycat and Mean Machine). The closer the vehicles look to the originals, the further up the track they will start.

Pitstop Challenge

Team BuildingIn our very enjoyable F1-related challenge, teams are tasked with designing & building a working model racing car.  All cars must be “self-propelled” and cannot be aided by pushing, pulling or similar means. The discussion, debate and frantic rushing to-and-from the ‘Pit Shop’ breaks the ice even before construction begins! With the cars ready - the deadline seems to always come as a surprise! - cars are ‘raced’ one at a time on our ‘grand prix circuit’ with the one travelling furthest winning.

Armada

Team BuildingAs per the Pitstop Challenge (above) but now teams are tasked with designing and building a working model ship. In addition to all the above options, teams can choose to put sails on their craft & purchase a “blast of wind” (varying strengths and durations) from our Chandler’s shop…the results are often hilarious as entrants propel themselves either forwards, backwards or not at all!

Musicality

Team Building“Musicality” is based on the group becoming the most successful musical theatre production company by putting on and performing the best possible ‘Showstopper’ from scratch (including learning the music, steps, acting & being tasked with making their own costumes and applying their own make-up to become the characters). A professional musical director will teach them the music, a choreographer will teach the group the necessary dance routines, then once everything is in place, the group will then be filmed as they perform the big hit for themselves.

‘Lights Camera Action!’

Team BuildingEver dreamed of seeing yourself on the big screen or longed to be behind the camera directing the action?  Here’s your chance to find out by entering into the world of (Big) budget film making, in this fun orientated team building event. “Lights Camera Action” is played in teams, each producing a short film or advert for the company. Ideal pre-event work for this could be for the group to investigate for example, the “History of Your Company” and this in turn form the basis of the teams’ films.  It will, of course, be highly entertaining to see this subject played out as a Spaghetti Western or Romantic Comedy!….

Calendar Boys & Girls

Team BuildingAs one would expect from the title, this task is centred around the creation of a calendar, a challenge combining project management, tight teamwork, design, composition, lots of dressing up and posing… and huge amounts of laughter!

We will provide the 2 professional photographers, with studio equipment and “blank canvas” for the design team to create the scenes; the photographers will be able to instantly show results to the project managers who can declare a “wrap” on their particular scene once they are happy with it. We will also provide a large range of costumes and props, as well as the equipment, design & technical know-how.

Quality and humour are essential, as once all 12 photos are complete, we would then be processing the pictures and sending them on to be developed into wall or desktop calendars – these would be sent on to the attendees with a view to them giving them to friends & family or selling them on to raise funds for a charity of their choice….
